THIS WAS MADE FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES

Live Valencia differently.

Casa de Azhara is a luxurious hotel in Valencia, Spain. It was founded on the core values of luxury, timeless design, exceptional guest experiences, and a deep connection to nature. Created by Spanish design pioneer Enrique Ruzafa in the 1960s, the hotel blends his passions for modernism and user-centered design. To honor his legacy, we’ve crafted an immersive hotel experience that reflects the innovation and exclusivity Ruzafa valued. From the architecture to the unique vineyard experience offered exclusively to guests, Casa de Azhara embodies luxury at every turn.

PROBLEM

Despite Enrique Ruzafa’s influence on Spanish modernism, there was no contemporary luxury hotel that fully embodied his design philosophy and human-centered approach. Modern boutique hotels often favor trend-driven aesthetics, leaving little space for an experience rooted in timeless modernism, thoughtful user experience, and a deep connection to nature. This created an opportunity for a hotel that could bring Ruzafa’s legacy into the present and resonate with a new generation of design-conscious travelers.

SOLUTION

With full creative freedom, a complete brand system was built using two bespoke typefaces as its foundation. Casa de Azhara was designed as a hotel Enrique Ruzafa would have created himself, translating his modernist principles and commitment to user experience into a contemporary visual language. The result positions Casa de Azhara as a design-led destination that bridges heritage and modernity for a new generation of global travelers.

OUTCOMES + TAKEAWAYS
Collaborating with another designer presented both challenges and exciting opportunities. It was incredibly valuable to delegate tasks effectively between the two of us while constantly discussing and refining the details of the brand. Having full creative freedom was both empowering and eye-opening; it pushed us to define our own parameters and craft a unique brief that truly reflected our vision for the brand.
